Glasband is vervaardigd uit E-glas, dat rot en schimmel vrij is. Het is onbrandbaar en heeft een hoge elektrische weerstand. Glasband is bestand tegen vetten, oliën, oplosmiddelen en organische zuren. Glasband geeft geen rek of krimp.
